What motivates audiences to attend classical music concerts?

In my MA capstone project, I collaborated with the Philharmonic Wind Orchestra to enhance audience development strategies. I will condense the intrinsic and extrinsic factors motivating audiences to attend classical music concerts.

  1. Personal Factors (Personal desires for knowledge, discovery and growth)

  2. social Factors (To bond with friends, family, community)

  3. Environmental Factors (Venue, atmosphere, and acoustics)

  4. Psychological Factors (Relaxation, emotional release, and mental stimulation)

  5. Cultural Factors (Exposure and media influence)
