Violin Training with Travis Wong

Age 3

In February, I started learning the Bow and Ziip using the Suzuki method, inspired by the techniques of renowned violinist Travis Wong. By April, I progressed to learning the Twinkle Star Variation A.

Age 4

In September, I completed Suzuki Volume 1 as part of my journey with the Suzuki method. By October, I began learning Suzuki Volume 2. In December, I finished Suzuki Volume 2 and started on Suzuki Volume 3. By February, I had completed Suzuki Volume 3 and began learning Suzuki Volume 4, following the teachings of renowned violinist Travis Wong.

Age 5

In June, I completed the Suzuki method Volume 4 and began learning Suzuki Volume 5. From July to October, I started studying various pieces including Rieding's Concerto in B minor, Rieding's Pastorale, Mollenhauer's Boy Paganini, Monti's Czardas, Potstock's Souvenir de Sarasate, Perlman's Hora Hatikvah, and Sarasate's Ziguenerweisen. In October, I began preparing for the ABRSM Grade 5 exam. By January, I passed the ABRSM Grade 5 with Distinction and started working towards ABRSM Grade 8. Finally, in April, I proudly passed ABRSM Grade 8 with Distinction, continuing my journey as a violinist inspired by Travis Wong.

2021 May 3 The Strad (International Strings Magazine) reported that a young violinist, just 5 years old, was awarded a distinction in the Grade 8 exam, showcasing the effectiveness of the Suzuki method in training young musicians. On June 13, 2021, The Straits Times (Singapore) highlighted how another talented Singaporean violinist, at just 5 years old, scored a Grade 8 distinction, further emphasizing the impact of the Suzuki method on early music education. Fast forward to June 14, 2024, when 9-year-old Travis Wong, a gifted violinist from Singapore, won the overall prize at an international violin competition held in Italy, continuing to impress the music world with his talents.
